I understand that some of you out there will think that religion is just a tool that can be used for good or bad, but let’s look at our own human history. Religion has done plenty of damage in order to stop progress of all sorts. Just a few of the recent findings are 9/11, the witch trials, the Inquisition, the killing of American Natives… need I go on? Well, I will go on. But, what’s worse is the fact that it’s still running today as a widely accepted practice. Even if all of these negative events have happened in the recent years. If a gun in misused, everyone screams for guns to be illegalized. If religion is misused, it’s just religion. That’s a double standard that I’m not willing to allow to ruin the world in which my kids will grow up.
If I had to write a blog about all of the actual practices of today’s “modern” world religious violence, I’d run out of server space. Instead, I wish to focus primarily on the morality of religion and realizing that religion is nothing short of mental illness that’s widely accepted by a lot of people… and that scares me.
Even in our American Constitution, the founding fathers request to have separation of church and state, but that concept really escapes some people. Ignorance is bliss for some.
